Geothermal energy

Geothermal energy is energy generated by means of geological sources of heat and can be considered a form of renewable energy, if evaluated quickly.

It has been used for bathing since the Paleolithic and for heating in ancient Roman times, but is now mainly used for the production of electricity.

It is based on the Earth's natural heat production - geothermal - fueled by the thermal energy released in nuclear decay processes of radioactive elements such as uranium, thorium and potassium, naturally contained within the earth.
